I believe using mobile computing devices in the classroom can be a good thing. Students like to use these types of devices so why not teach them by using the things they love. If any of the disadvantages were to arise then address the situation at that time. I think you shouldn’t use these devices for the entire teaching time because students will be using them for their personal pleasure instead of paying attention to their teachers, but using them for certain assignments and activities can be helpful for students.
I believe that if the children are working on a certain project like a research, or book report then this will be helpful to the children. I can not see having them in the classroom for any other reason. The teacher also needs to monitor the children while they are using these devices to make sure that they are using them properly. At what age should this be acceptable in the classroom?
ReplyDeleteYou know I really didn't think of the text and bullying that might come with having mobile devices in the classroom. Great idea for a disadvantage. That was the least on my mind. I too also put that the other disadvantages would be having to upkeep the device, constantly upgrading, and when it breaks, then what? Good job.
